The Fairness Doctrine

In 90’s President Bill Clinton opened the attach on talk radio by calling a talk station while traveling in Airforce one and complaining that Rush Limbaugh and talk radio had an unfair advantage over him, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Because Rush had three hours a day to get the conservative message out and that he, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED did not have that opportunity.

In 2002 a R.I.N.O. from AZ named Mc Cain joined with a true Democrat from WI to draft and act that shuts the voice of the people expressing opinions about politics and policy. Members of Congress (The imperial Body.) voted for the act.

Now Hillary Clinton has teamed with George Soros, F.A.I.R., and the Center for American Progress whose President and Chief Executive Officer is John Podesta. John Posesta was Chief of Staff to President William J. Clinton from October 1998 until January 2001 to shut down conservative talk radio.

The Center for American Progress and its sister organization Free Press recently released a report titled The Right Wing Domination Of Talk Radio And How To End It. http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2007/06/pdf/talk_radio.pdf .

Democrats and some Republican ("RINO’s) are attempting to bring the Fairness Doctrine back citing a 1969 Supreme Court ruling.

Do not confuse the "Equal-time rule" with the fairness doctrine. This rule gives a politician the right to demand airtime on radio or Television for his opposing view.

The Fairness Doctrine is an attempt to extend the equal-time rule to anyone with an opposing opinion to force radio only to give them free airtime. Notice that in any discussion of the Fairness Doctrine television is never mentioned.

Although similar laws had been deemed unconstitutional when applied to newspapers, the Court ruled that radio stations could be regulated in this way because of the limited nature of the public airwave spectrum. Once again note the absence of any reference to television.

Supreme Court Decision

  • "A license permits broadcasting, but the licensee has no constitutional right to be the one who holds the license or to monopolize a... frequency to the exclusion of his fellow citizens. There is nothing in the First Amendment, which prevents the Government from requiring a licensee to share his frequency with others.... It is the right of the viewers and listeners, not the right of the broadcasters, which is paramount."
U.S. Supreme Court, upholding the constitutionality of the Fairness Doctrine in Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. FCC, 1969.

A little history. (Source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine)

In 1986, the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a loose interpretation by the FCC of an aspect of the Fairness Doctrine, ruling that Congress had "never made the doctrine a binding requirement." In August 1987, the Commission abolished the doctrine by a 4-0 vote, in its Syracuse Peace Council decision. The FCC insisted the doctrine had grown to inhibit rather than enhance debate and suggested that, due to the many media voices in the marketplace at the time, the doctrine was perceived to be unconstitutional.

In the spring of 1987, Congress attempted to contest the FCC vote and restore the Doctrine (S. 742, 100th Cong., 1st Sess. (1987)), but President Ronald Reagan vetoed the legislation. Another attempt to resurrect the doctrine in 1991 ran out of steam when President George H.W. Bush threatened another veto.

The emergence of another attempt to reinstate the F. D. is being funded and pushed by F.A.I.R., "Fairness and Accuracy in the Media" (http://www.fair.org/index.php) a group founded by Democrat supporter George Soros. Soros has admitted that he worked with the Nazis rounding up Jews to be exterminated although he claims that he did not know he was doing so at the time. It is rumored that he escaped prosecution as a war criminal because of his Jewish heritage and his age.

F.A.I.R. has a web site that advises members on how to find and report "unfairness" on the radio. It also list a large number of leftist and Demarcate activist organizations you can report your findings to along with news and FCC contacts. (See links listed below.) In addition, in their articles they always attempt to link Conservatives to any extremist organization they are writing about.

Since F.A.I.R. has made such an effort get people involved I suggest that of us that truly believe in "FAIRNESS AND ACCUACY IN THE MEDIA" use the info provided by them to foil their plans.

Rather than a haphazard approach, attack if you prefer, I suggest you use the following plan.

Remember that the lefts and democrats favorite tool can be used against them. Threaten or actually file a class action lawsuit. It cost less than one hundred dollars in most jurisdictions and you do not need an attorney.

Government representatives. Local, state and federal. Notify them that talk radio is the only means available to you to get your opinion heard because most representatives do not respond, television presents a biased twisted view supporting the left and have not established a way for you to air your point of view. Contact all rep.’s in your state even if you do not live in their districts. Their names, addresses and phone numbers can be found in the front of your local phone book. Let them know that you will initiate a Class Action lawsuit if television and newspapers are not included in any F.D. law. Always document incidents of bias against your views or incomplete or corrupt reporting and comments.

The FCC. Notify them that since television and the newspapers have as many editorials as news features that you want them included in any fairness doctrine laws. Keep track of the number of times you have tried to express an opinion and let the FCC know also let a local talk radio station know. Emphasize that the only way you have of getting your opinion listened to is on talk radio. Let them know that you will initiate a Class Action lawsuit if television and newspapers are not included in any F.D. law. Always document incidents of bias against your views or incomplete or corrupt reporting and comments.

Newspapers. If your newspaper has a blog site post this on their blog, write letter after letter to "letters to the editor’ stating you demand equal time to a column or ad. Keep sending them until you are published. Let them know that you will initiate a Class Action lawsuit if television and newspapers are not included in any F.D. law. Always document incidents of bias against your views or incomplete or corrupt reporting and comments.

Television. Television stations both local and national often try to present opinion as news. If your Television stations have a blog site post this on their blog, write letter after letter to the station stating you demand equal time to a column or ad. Keep sending them until you get a response. Let them know that you will initiate a Class Action lawsuit if television and newspapers are not included in any F.D. law. Always document incidents of bias against your views or incomplete or corrupt reporting and comments.

Cable Television.

One way is to visit their site and download all their information and use the contacts they provide demand that any F.D. Includes both television and the print media. Do not just write a letter or send an email giving your opinion; demand equal time or space to give your opposing view. Copy the letter or email to local radio stations and the FCC. Let all news organizations especially television and newspapers know that you demand the F.D. pertain to them as well as radio. Pretty soon they will start to oppose the F.D.

Another is to flood the FCC with demands that all news including National Public radio and television be included.

Challenging Hate Radio: A Guide For Activists.

It seems that an informed public and Conservatives in particular are an obstacle to our Imperial Congress taking total control of America and its citizens. We have already experienced the passing of power from Father to son in the case of the Kennedy’s and the Gore’s as well as others.

Term limits seem to be the only way to end these dynasties. When term limits were passed by some states remember who challenged them in court rather than accept the fact that the people had spoken through their votes?

Our President faces term limits so why not the Congress???

Standup and fight for what you believe in.
