Lessons of the past?

I believe that the foundation for our present "Quagmire" in Iraq was laid as far back as 1975 in Vietnam when a Democrat controlled Congress refused to honor our commitment to fund the South Vietnam government.  Then  a series of political steps magnified this mistake to the point that we have suffered attacks on American soil.  A thing we thought impossible until Sept. 11, 2001.

But a careful review of history will show that this 9/11 attack was inevitable and brought on by a failure of the news media to report the facts and politicians by ignoring the warning signs.

Unlike some "Talk show" host I do not believe there is a conspiracy.  I believe we are living in an age of
"If I thought or said it it must be true!"

That we are living in the age of George Orwells "1984".  History is what the media and government say it is.  That reasoning and questioning is dead.  The reporters of the news media are not conspirators but persons without the ability to question and think.

I believe these events were set into motion starting with Congress abandoning the South Vietnamese government,  President Carters handling  of the Iranian attack on the US embassy,  and President Clintons handling of the bombing of the Trade Center Towers in Feb. 1993 by the "Blind Sheik" funded by al-Qaeda.  Closely followed by the Clinton defeat in "The Battle of Mogadishu" in Oct. of 1993.

What I find frightening is research shows that with few notable exceptions; the same Democrat members of Congress who abandoned the South Vietnamese government are in office today and calling for "redeployment" from Iraq.  If they get this will they "de-Fund" the support for the present Iraqi government?

Over the next few weeks I will attempt to lay out the evidence and support for my beliefs. I invite my readers to comment on my facts or offer any proof that I am wrong or my logic is flawed.

President Kennedy committed US troops to South Vietnam as advisors.  I was one of those "Advisors".  When he was murdered, President L.B. Johnson expanded the Vietnam war - For Profit.

Proof?  Look up a company called "Halliburton  aka Kellog,Brown and Root".

Halliburton
As soon as LBJ became president, he escalated the war in Vietnam, which primarily benefited Brown and Root  later purchased by Halliburton.

Nearly 40 years ago, Halliburton faced almost identical charges over its work for the U.S. government in Vietnam -- allegations of overcharging, sweetheart contracts from the White House and war profiteering. Back then, the company's close ties to President Johnson became a liability.

After Johnson took over the Oval Office, Brown & Root won contracts for huge construction projects for the federal government. By the mid-1960s, newspaper columnists and the Republican minority in Congress began to suggest that the company's good luck was tied to its sizable contributions to Johnson's political campaign.

More questions were raised when a consortium of which Brown & Root was a part won a $380 million contract to build airports, bases, hospitals and other facilities for the U.S. Navy in South Vietnam. By 1967, the General Accounting Office had faulted the "Vietnam builders" -- as they were known -- for massive accounting lapses and allowing thefts of materials.

It seems that Democrats lodge the same charges against President Bush and Vice President Chaney. (Because he was the head of Halliburton at one time.)  Why don't you take a look at stock holders in Halliburton?
